At Naga International Council of Naga Affairs (ICNA), we see our team as more than just our core members; the larger ICNA family is a group of enthusiastic volunteers, core members, and partners who help us realize our events and advance the industry. The dedication of the larger ICNA team inspires us while also allowing us to provide unrivaled experiences and quality outputs.

Volunteer Program / Opportunities
ICNA volunteering is not your typical ‘work experience.’ First, we remotely coordinate our activities. As a result, you do not need to physically attend a workplace to volunteer with us. Second, we have no paid employees; we are entirely comprised of volunteers. We give some of our free time to help maintain the online resource for an international audience of academics, policymakers, businesspeople, and others who rely on ICNA for thoughtful, non-partisan, and insightful analysis of today’s most pressing global and Naga issues. Finally, we give our editors the freedom to learn new skills, manage their own time, and create their own projects. As a result, the more volunteers contribute, the more they gain from the experience.

Interested in volunteering with the International Council of Naga Affairs (ICNA)? ICNA is looking to fill the following volunteering positions. Check out our current volunteer opportunities below:

COMMISSIONING EDITOR
Commissioning is a dynamic and rewarding role for anyone looking to broaden their horizons and who enjoys reading – and helping to disseminate – the most recent research in their field to our readership from over 100+ countries. Collaborating with authors in the fields you are researching (or have an interest in) to commission unique articles for the website is part of the job. You will be responsible for conducting your own research and contacting potential authors. Every piece of work to which a Commissioning Editor contributes receives credit, which appears permanently on the output, resulting in a verified record of your efforts.

What do you gain from it?

  • By networking with our editorial team and other professionals, you will raise your profile and establish connections for future collaborations and projects that will benefit your academic and professional journey.
  • You will improve your editorial skills, which will help you become a better writer.
  • You will gain a new perspective on the publishing industry.
  • You will receive something valuable for your CV as well as a reference/letter of recommendation if you ever need one in the future.

If you are interested in this position, please send an email to join@nagaaffairs.org with the subject ‘Commissioning Editor.’ Within that email, please include:

  • Outline briefly your academic interests and emerging expertise (250 words max).
  • Specify the type of content and authors you want to commission for the International Council of Naga Affairs (ICNA) publication. The more specific you are in this case, the better (500 words max).
  • Attach (or link) one sample of writing that best represents your abilities so far.
  • Please include a brief CV/resume (guide length: one or two pages).

We will respond to anyone who catches our attention as soon as possible. This is usually done within 10 working days of receiving your application, though it can take longer in some cases.

EVENT COORDINATOR
The Events Coordinator Volunteer will assist the ICNA with various aspects of events by performing intricate event management such as preparing, analyzing, maintaining, and reviewing various event statements, records, and reports.

Preferred: Master / Any person who is on a PhD pathway / Research Fellow / PhD / PhD candidate (The position is only open to Nagas because it will be primarily focused on ICNA “A Dialogue on Naga Affairs,” which necessitates good Naga relations/connections).

Requirement: Two ( 1 male, and 1 female)

Duration: 6 – 12 months (with the possibility to become a full-time core ICNA member after the completion of temporary engagement)
