UK Urges Ex-Myanmar Ambassador to Leave London Home Citing Military Junta ‘pressure’

Reuters’ most recent Tweet reads, ‘EXCLUSIVE UK urges ex-Myanmar ambassador to leave London home citing junta ‘pressure.’

According to an email seen by Reuters, the UK has urged the UK to leave the London residence of the former Myanmar ambassador, who was ousted last year for criticizing a military coup.

In an email sent to Kyaw Zwar Minn on March 4, a senior foreign ministry official stated.

The letter, which was written in October of last year, repeatedly urged Kyaw Zwar Minn to leave the house, citing “serious legal difficulties” for the UK and risk to employees in Myanmar.

The United Kingdom is one of the Western countries urging Myanmar to restore democracy and sanction Myanmar soldiers and business interests. The fight over the House, on the other hand, “has great diplomatic significance” as the Myanmar government seeks international recognition, according to a human rights group.
